Totally Ticks Me Off Tuesday!

This is my second week to take part in the Totally Ticks Me Off Tuesday Meme found at Mommy from the Midwest.  Go check it out to read others and feel free to join in, it’s fun!

Dear RedBox,

Once upon a time I always rented movies from Blockbuster, yes that’s right don’t be shocked.  For years Blockbuster was the only well known choice for movie rentals and much cheaper than buying the movie itself and even cheaper than taking the whole family to watch it at the theater.  However, you came along and stole me from being their loyal customer.  Their prices could not compare to your 99cent movie rentals.  You, dear RedBox, were so conveniently located within my local grocery store, outside the McDonald’s locations and even inside the drug store were my daughter gets her medication.  I loved the feature of being able to rent from one kiosk and returning to another.  I mean, seriously, entertainment for a buck?!

Unfortunately a couple of weeks ago I walked up to you, decided upon a movie, checked out and loyal and behold what popped out of the little red box?  Not the movie I rented!  That’s correct, a completely different movie than what I had just paid for came shooting out at me.  To top it off not only was this a movie I did not want to rent, I already owned it.  I returned the movie and tried again.  I chalked this up to no biggie, it’s just a buck and with all the money you’ve saved me I won’t complain that you made a mistake, I mean you are just a machine.  Then I tried you again last week.  I really wanted to see a new release so I got online and checked which local box had the movie in stock near me.  I reserved the movie online which means I paid for it beforehand.  I got to my grocery store eager to pick up my movie and you were shut down!  Something was wrong with you, my little red box, and your screen had an error message.  Although I feel sorry that you must have been sick, at this point I was more concerned about myself.  I wanted that dang movie.  I must admit, I cheated on you.  Yes you heard me correctly, I went to Blockbuster.  When I went into Blockbuster they were probably hurt that I didn’t even still own my card, they had to look me up!  But upon my arrival there, I got my movie and it was $1.99.  An extra buck to make sure I was able to see it.  I also tried to call you, Red Box, and was left on hold for over 5 minutes before hanging up, my time is not only precious to me but costs me money by AT&T.

Hoping to become a loyal customer again one day,

djane

You can reserve (well your suppose to be able to) movies online before hand? I had no clue? We were big RedBox fans and then we just switched back to Netflix. They became too popular and nothing was ever in stock anymore.
$1.99 at blockbuster? They have really gone down in price. Man! You are just educating me a lot tonight, lol!
Thanks for joining in. I would have been ticked too!

Yes I was shocked at how low their prices were too but then again I’m sure they have to in order to keep up! I want to switch to Netflix and should! If you go to RedBox.com then you can find which location near you has what movies before going there and if you want to reserve it online you can but you must enter card info, same card you use at store to pick up. Pretty cool, unless the machine is down!

Heck no it wasn’t then. It happened twice, the you won’t believe… Tuesday night after I had already published this post. We went online and found a movie in stock at the local kiosk, got there and it wasn’t there. Oh well… LOL Blockbuster won again that night but I do love Red Box and will rent there again someday I’m sure. :)
