Tackle It Tuesday – Work Station

Tackle It Tuesday – Work Station

November 10, 2009 in Random, meme

I took some photos of my cluttered workstation a couple of weeks back.  I was finally tired of the mess and decided to not only clean but organize the area.  That meant creating files and actually putting stuff in them.  I am normally an organized person but I had let life get overwhelmingly busy lately and neglected my computer desk.

Computer Desk Mess{Before Photo of Workstation}

As you can see in the photo above my computer desk was sort of the ‘catch all’ area in my room.  If you attended Blissdom in February then you will even see the Lands End bag we received there.  Yes, it still had some conference stuff left in it.

Cluttered Desk Unorganized cabinet

In these two photos it shows the clutter on the right hand side of my desk.  The cabinet is unorganized and the desk top is a complete mess.  The area that is under the cabinet, kind of like a cubbyhole, isn’t perfect now.  It has changed some but really I haven’t fully gotten around to cleaning it out like I want.  I did however clear out the items in the cabinet and organize it better.  It looks somewhat the same but really there is a difference.  The desktop is clear, finally.  I filed paper work and trashed other stuff.  I threw away the boxes that the CD-ROMs came in and organized those in the cabinet.  I am satisfied with the changes in this area.  See the photo below for the results.

Cabinet cleaned{Pretty impressive, huh?}

Messy workstationCluttered ShelvesIn these two photos you can see the printer cart, the floor around it and the two filing bins.  The shelves under the printer are cluttered as well and the Blissdom bag is still sitting in front of it.  Such a shame I know.  Well not any longer.  I cleared out the shelves and placed my books on top.  Organized my work stuff on bottom shelf with printer paper.  I emptied the Lands End bag and placed it in the closet where it belongs.  Oh and that nice digital photo frame that was still in the box from Christmas, well it’s now on the top shelf of my computer desk, plugged in.  Check out below for the results.

Clean shelves{It looks so much better and is more functional, I’m loving it}

I also emptied a whole big tote that was in my closet full of documents to be filed such as banking information and legal forms.  That ugly blue box that you can see in the very first photo under my computer desk is now gone.  I emptied it as well.  I recycled some paperwork, old note pads and shredded personal documents that were no longer needed.  The important stuff that was kept around went into file folders that I now have labeled and neatly organized.

Organized files

It just feels nice to have my workstation back. I can easily find things and it looks great. I will admit I’m not completely done. I want the cubbyhole emptied and better organized and I have a small pile of stuff that needs to be taken care of. I was hoping to have it all finished by today’s post but life, yet again, got crazy. I am proud of myself for accomplishing this much though. It’s a weight lifted.

Freshly Cleaned Workstation{Love the touch screen but those finger prints sure show up in photos, LOL}

By the way all the items on the top shelf have an important memory.  The pink bear Gab stuffed before her brain surgery, the bear in green shirt came from Brandy when visiting her in NH, the framed certificate is for Gab from the Hemisphrecetomy Foundation, the Manta and photo is from Sea World while attending IzeaFest and the blue note taped on my cabinet door has been there since I received the computer which the note is from SugarJones.  There are other memories on the desk but those are a few that stand out the most.
