Planning my move

Moving on

My lease is up at the end of May where I am living now.  Although by then we will have been in this house for a year and a half I can’t stay any longer.  I wrote about our high electric bills back over the summer.  Several months of $400-500 a month bills and although it has gotten somewhat better this month’s bill was $315.  The expense of this house has just become overwhelming.  The landlord never followed through with replacing the AC unit like they said they would do and the only help they have offered is if I stay over next summer they will reduce the rent by $100, whoopie!  Several other things need to be done and working with them is just a joke.  The house is listed with a property manager instead of an individual so it is very difficult to get them to respond.

I hate moving.  I love the area and love the kids’ schools.  Gab is finally doing so much better than she was last year, which is nice.  We don’t have many apartments near us and with having our Boxer, Nicki I am not sure we could move into a place without a back yard anyways.  So we are still searching for houses and hoping to stay close unless I get a job offer somewhere else.  I had thought about moving before now due to the high electricity and since my lease didn’t have any re-letting fees built in but the landlord informed me I would be responsible for the rent until she found someone else.  There is a house for rent three houses down that has been empty for several months now and I wasn’t willing to take my chances.

I have applied for a position going back into the work force that is about an hour from where we live now and we have family an hour and a half in the other direction.  Of course T is at the age where she’s in middle school and doesn’t want to leave her friends and I share joint custody of Noah so I have to stay somewhat close to his father.  All tough decisions…  Remember when life was easy and you only made decisions based on what YOU wanted?  Yeah, me neither.

Four months to figure it all out, so I just keep searching…
