It’s All Too Much by Peter Walsh

It’s All Too Much by Peter Walsh

Peter Walsh DVDI was recently sent the It’s All Too Much DVD with Peter Walsh to review.  Over the weekend while the kids were gone I put it in and enjoyed all his tips.  I love reading new organization ideas and enjoy learning anything that helps make life a little easier.  Being a single mom of three kids it’s hard to keep a house organized but on the flip side it drives me crazy to live in chaos.

While watching the DVD I shared several tips on twitter and had people joining in on the discussion.  One idea that sounded like a lot of fun was Trash Bag Tango.  This is where each person in the house is given two trash bags, you sent a timer and rush around the house filling up the bags with items to get rid of, whether it’s for garage sale or donations.

I also loved the triangle tip he taught when working in your kitchen.  You tape off an area in the kitchen (or just imagine a triangle) centered around your cooking area and within that triangle you only store what is needed and move everything else outside of the triangle.  For instance your spatula would be inside the triangle but coffee maker would be on the outside.  One of the best parts of this DVD is being able to watch him demonstrate his organization tips within each room.  Peter Walsh walks you through a house room by room showing you how to organize first hand.  Watching this on your own time and working each step and tip is much better than reading an article or just hearing someone tell you.  I am a very visual person myself, so the DVD helped me a ton.

Peter Walsh teaches how to fold fitted sheets the correct way so they store flat.  I was so proud of myself because I already knew this tip and do it the exact same way.  Although I also organize my closet the same way as he demonstrated with my short sleeved shirts together compared to long sleeve, I learned some other great new tips.  He taught how to figure out how often you wear clothing but reversing the hangers after an item has been washed.  If after six months you have never turned that hanger around then you might want to re-evaluate whether or not you truly need that item.  One great tip I need to work on that Peter suggested was getting rid of clothes that you don’t look fabulous in.  Meaning out with the sweats and non-flattering clothing.  He said you shouldn’t keep wish clothes in hopes to lose weight.  Once you lose the weight you want then you should go out and purchase something that makes you not only look great but feel great as well.  So stop mocking yourself by hanging on to the wish clothes in the closet for you to see.
