Each year we take part in the Make-a-Wish Foundation of North Texas 5K event. The Race for Wishes, as they call it. As most of you know, Gabby was a wish kid and received a wish trip to Disney World before her first major brain surgery. On March 24th a group of us gathered together to walk in Gabby’s honor. The day was filled with fun for the whole family and some of our friends.
Our team consist of my three kids, my mom, my niece – Coel, her daughter – Kylii, my cousin – Alyssa, her boyfriend and son – Gavin, Coel’s friend and my good friend – Alan. A total of 12 members on our team, walking and jogging together. It was pure bliss. We laughed and chatted while enjoying each others company and watching the kids all while taking part in a good cause.
Not only did we get to enjoy the walk/run together the event also consist of lots of activities for the kids. They gave the kids a ride in the sky lift. All three of my children were amused with this. They thought it was pretty cool to go so high and be able to see the full crowd. They also got to jump in a bounce house, play some carnival type games and eat hot dogs and hamburgers. There was a ton of kids running around enjoying themselves and many people out supporting the cause.
We had a great time and I am so very thankful to our friends and family members that came out to support Gabby. We can’t wait until next year and hope to grow our team even larger. Gabby is so blessed with all the amazing support she gets from those that care.
