I just recently decided to publish my Life List and although it isn’t as long as I’d like it to be I have started working on some of the items. #33 on my list was to Zip Line with Gabby at her yearly camp. After she left the hospital from having brain surgery she was added to the list to be invited along with all the other children who spent time on the Rehabilitation floor at Cook Children Hospital to a weekend camp each year. The camp is called Camp John Marc and is just amazing. Last year was our first year and we met some great people and had a blast. The whole family gets to go so my other two children loved it as well. We get to spend quality time as a family which is very nice and relaxing as well as meet other families who share similar experiences. At least one child from each family attending has either gone through a drastic surgery or suffered a tragedy to land them in the Rehab unit. Sharing stories and seeing the children play together is priceless. Not to mention the great friendships we have started to develop with people we would have never met otherwise.
Last year Gabby rock climbed and zip lined from a 3 story structure. She loved it. From the moment we left I was regretting not taking part and only taking photos. It looked so fun that I knew I had to do it this year. I was a little nervous to zip line down. The structure was swaying in the wind and oddly I seem to have developed a fear of heights as I’ve gotten older. However being able to help Gabby rock climb up the wall and then zip lining down was such a blast. She did a wonderful job at climbing and really didn’t need much help, just some assistance on the right side.
As I accomplish things on my Life List I plan to document as much as possible. Check out my vlog below of my experience.
That’s one marked off the list. Do you have a Life List? Share the link with me in the comments below. I’d love to follow along in your journey as well.
