Vacations can often become a thing of the past once you are a parent; you find yourself taking lots of ‘trips’, which tend to be all-hands-on-deck, making sure everybody’s ready for any kind of situations. Although each has its own ups and downs, there’s no denying that taking a vacation as a family is vastly different to taking a vacation solo, as a couple, or with friends. While Costa Rica may be a popular destination for those looking to bask in romantic scenery, it’s also got a great range of child-friendly locations that will make for an amazing vacation for your children. In fact, Costa Rica is one of the most child-friendly destinations in Central America. If you’re planning on taking a trip to Costa Rica with your kids, here are some tips to help you all have the best time.
Time it Right
Since Costa Rica has a wet season and a dry season, it’s important to time your vacation right so that you benefit from the best weather when you’re there. Even if your kids won’t mind playing in the rain, wet weather can put a stop to seeing a range of tourist attractions or thoroughly enjoy activities.
Pick the Right Activities
Because there is so much to do in Costa Rica, picking the right activities for you and your kids should be an easy task. If you’d like to keep all arguments and possible tantrums to a minimum while you’re on vacation, it is a good idea to research which activities are available at the time of year that you’re visiting, and together with your kids, choose what you’d like to do before you go. It’s inevitable that one child will probably want to do something that the others won’t, so planning ahead is a great way to ensure that everybody’s happy.
Play on the Beach
It’s free, fun, and a great way for parents to have some relaxing time – what’s not to love about the beach?! With many luxury rentals in Costa Rica located near sandy, beautiful beaches, you have your family vacation made. Remember to pack toys such as buckets and shovels, and a beach ball for your kids to play with on the beach, and don’t forget safety is key – make sure they’ve applied enough sunscreen, and keep your eye on them if they decide to swim in the sea.
Visit a Volcano
Most kids learn about volcanoes in school, so visiting a real live one will be an experience they’ll never forget. With Arenal and other brilliant volcanoes available to visit in Costa Rica, you can be assured that your kids will be in their element as they explore some of the world’s natural wonders.
