This post is part of a campaign with SheKnows to celebrate the upcoming release of One Direction: This is Us in theaters.
My tween daughter, Gabby, loves One Direction.
The group is a hit sensation among girls her age. They make her so inspired, she wants to learn how to sing.
One Direction: This Is Us hits theaters on August 30, 2013 with behind the scenes look at life on the road with the band of five.
I feel like I’m spouting a total cliché when I say things are so different with my kids than they were when I was younger. I remember my favorite pop stars and music was always inspiring to me. I took dance for many years so listening to music of all types and genres was part of my hobby. However, I never remember getting as excited about a specific band or pop star as my girls have. I never attended concerts or had a chance to meet my favorite singers. I think it actually excites me just as much as it excites them to see their idols live. Watching my girls squeal and become giddy is priceless.
I remember when I gave my teen tickets to see her favorite band she even cried. Gabby has already picked out a backpack with One Direction on it for school this month. She has clothing and jewelry that’s branded with the famous five guys and is counting down the days to see the movie.
ONE DIRECTION: THIS IS US is a captivating and intimate all-access look at life on the road for the global music phenomenon. Weaved with stunning live concert footage, this inspiring feature film tells the remarkable story of Niall, Zayn, Liam, Harry and Louis’ meteoric rise to fame, from their humble hometown beginnings and competing on the X-Factor, to conquering the world and performing at London’s famed O2 Arena. Hear it from the boys themselves and see through their own eyes what it’s really like to be One Direction.Directed by Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me) and produced by Simon Cowell, Adam Milano, Spurlock and Ben Winston.
