Giveaways

Paperspring Invitations for TT’s 13th birthday is not far away now.  Her party is next Tuesday so we are finishing up last minute details.  All the invitations went out this past week, thanks to Paperspring for helping me get a rush on them.  Between all the traveling this month and taking on some more client work, planning a party has been hectic.

We were very pleased with her invitations.  T helped me browse the Paperspring website for a design she liked.  Surprisingly she chose a design that was originally created for a New Years Celebration invitation.  Since all their cards are customizable we were able to switch out the wording and turn it into a birthday invite.  Black and pink are two of her favorite colors and the beautiful chandeliers at the top just add a very nice touch.

After selecting the design on Paperspring I was able to customize every suggested wording in the template.  You could change it completely around or just update your personal info, whichever was best.  Of course I switched out the New Years Celebration message to say Tapanga’s 13th Birthday.  After the card was finished I was given the option to view and confirm.  During the confirmation process I even had to type in my initials to say ‘yes I do believe everything is correct & the way I want’ before ordering.  Unfortunately I wasn’t paying close enough attention and made an error.

Tapanga's 13th Bday Invites

Can you see it? I didn’t even notice at first until looking a second time at the invitations.  I wasn’t very happy with myself.  I left the word ‘A’ in the top message.  You are Cordially Invited to A Tapanga’s 13th Birthday.  I know it’s totally my fault and my human error but other than that we love them.  The black and white colors are very elegant for a birthday party and the pink adds some fun.  Shopping on Paperspring.com was super easy.  The delivery was right on time and I just love the quality of their products, especially considering I ordered the 100% post-consumer waste recycled paper.

One step closer to the party… I’m not ready for my daughter to turn 13 in just four short days.  Am I?

Paperspring has given me the opportunity to offer one lucky reader a $50 gift certificate for their website.  What a great way to get your own invites for the next party you plan or personalized note cards for every day use!

T turns 13 on July 24th and we are planning a party for her birthday. To me turning 13 is a big deal, it’s when you become a teenager. It’s almost as big as the Sweet 16 and of course becoming a legal adult at age 21.

For her party Sweet Tomatoes is catering the food. We are so excited about this. Last week we had the chance to go enjoy lunch there and try out various foods to help in our decision process for the party planning. I believe we are going to go one more time before confirming our order. I created a short video of our trip to Sweet Tomatoes that I would love for you to see.

Sweet Tomatoes – T turns 13 from Dwan Perrin on Vimeo.

In celebration of T turning 13 not only will I be blogging all about our celebrations I am also hosting a giveaway for one lucky reader the chance to host their own party catered by Sweet Tomatoes. Duplo Lego PlayFor Noah’s birthday he got the Toy Story 3 Lego set with Buzz Lightyear, Woody and an Alien.  My grandma also gave him the Jessie and Bulls-Eye set.  It was all so cute and he loved it but it wasn’t enough.  He wanted more Duplo Legos to go with his sets.  I was given the opportunity to pick out an item to review from the Constructive Playthings website for being part of their Ambassador program.  I chose the Construction Truck Set: dump truck and tractor.

Noah loving his presentNoah and I have had so much fun playing with them.  He scoops up the other Legos and dumps them in piles.  He lets his other Duplo compatible Legos such as Woody and Jessie drive the trucks.  We have played out several scenarios using the trucks and they roll and work great.  They are also very durable considering Noah is all boy and enjoys crashing them.

The dump truck comes apart in two pieces.  We took the back off and built up our own cargo with other Legos.  He loved using the tractor to scoop up the Alien from Toy Story 3.

I’m giving away one $50 gift card to Constructive Playthings to one lucky reader.

I was recently sent an iPhone 3GS case to review from Case-Mate. I opted for the blue case since I was giving it as a Father’s Day gift. Even though the pink one for myself was so tempting. I love it. The case has a slot on the back for credit cards. This area is just perfect to put your drivers license and debit/credit card. The slot honestly doesn’t make the case very thick either. I’ve seen those cases that have the extra long lasting battery pack on the back and the case is heavy and bulky, this isn’t that way at all. The slot has enough room for more than one card but is secure enough that even if you only place just one card inside it won’t fall out. Unlike digging your drivers license out of a wallet this case was created with ease of use in mind. [click to continue…]

Hanes® joins Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and Actress Melina Kanakaredes in Providing Comfort in the Fight Against Breast Cancer.

America’s No. 1 Brand of Apparel Essentials Mark Increases its Commitment to the Cause as the Official T-Shirt of the 2010 Komen Race for the Cure® Series.  In addition to serving as the Official T-shirt of the Komen Race for the Cure Series, Hanes will reprise its role as the Official Apparel Sponsor of Passionately Pink for the Cure®, a fundraising program created by Komen to inspire breast cancer advocacy and honor those affected by the disease.  As part of this partnership, Hanes is proud to enlist actress Melina Kanakaredes, star of the television show “CSI:NY ” who will lead the Passionately Pink for the Cure mission and has designed three Hanes T-shirts to help fight breast cancer.  Hanes will make a total cash and in-kind contribution of $500,000 to Komen in 2010.

My daughter and I are pretty big CSI fans so when I received this stylish pink Hanes tee designed by CSI actress, Melina Kanakaredes herself, it was a pretty special treat.  It makes me proud to see actors/actresses reach out and back such an important cause.  I feel like Melina is doing a wonderful thing by reaching out to her fans and taking time to join with Hanes to support the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Melina Kanakaredes’s three specially designed Hanes T-shirts are meant to inspire and encourage others to join the fight against breast cancer. The T-shirts communicate strength, love and fearlessness and were designed to honor those affected by breast cancer.   “I am thrilled to join Hanes and Susan G. Komen for the Cure to raise funds and awareness about breast cancer,” Kanakaredes said.  “Like so many, I have been affected by the disease through the loss of family members and dear friends.  I was inspired to join this fight to celebrate survivors and to honor the memory of those we have lost, and it is my sincere hope that my inspiration is evident in the Hanes T-shirts I have designed.”

Hanes® has also refreshed its campaign Web site which features highly interactive elements designed by the Night Agency of New York City to encourage others to join the mission for breast cancer awareness.  Visitors to the site will have the ability to create their own T-shirt design, invite friends to join the mission and interact with digital applications, including customized Facebook® messages.

To help kick off this campaign I am giving away one pink Hanes tee designed by Melina Kanakaredes shown in the photo above.

According to the American Cancer Society, about half of all cancer deaths could be prevented if people maintained a healthy weight through diet and regular exercise; avoided tobacco products; and got recommended cancer screening tests. As a busy mom I know, it’s not always easy to incorporate these healthy behaviors into a busy lifestyle! In fact, a new national survey of approximately 2,000 women ages 25-64 revealed that they are so busy being caretakers of others, they have little time to take care of their own health.

Actress Ellen Pompeo, star of “Grey’s Anatomy”, kicked-off the American Cancer Society’s Choose You initiative on May 4th at an event in Times Square, along with national presenting sponsors Sprite Zero and Walgreens. Pompeo “powered up” the Choose You flower icon on the world’s largest digital sign, the Walgreens Times Square Billboard. The event marked the start of the nationwide effort to encourage women across the country to do something they almost never do – to “choose themselves first” so they can stay well and reduce their risk of cancer.

Findings from the American Cancer Society’s 2010 Choose You Survey

In March 2010, the American Cancer Society conducted a national online survey of approximately 2,000 U.S. females ages 25-64 to examine women’s health behaviors and needs. According to the survey, women want better health, but fall short of achieving it. The survey found that 95% of women feel the need to improve their health, yet approximately three out of five women put others’ health before their own. When it comes to women’s specific health behaviors, the survey reveals some eye-opening findings:
    ·         90% say they fall short of eating a healthy diet
    ·         85% don’t get the minimum 30 minutes a day of exercise, 5 days a week recommended by the U.S. government
    ·         76% don’t always protect their skin from the sun
Mom and Noah at Cure Search Walk

To help spread the word about the Choose You initiative, to encourage women everywhere to finally put their health first, I am hosting a giveaway provided by the American Cancer Society.

Last weekend during the Cure Search Childhood Cancer Walk I wore my Choose You shirt shown in the photo.  My family and I walked in memory of my good friend, Teri’s son Johnathon who became an angel at the young age of 3. [click to continue…]

Corner-Art Child Room DecorI was recently given the chance to review a piece of children room decor from Corner-Art.  They had a great selection to chose from between animals, angels and even holiday designs.  When browsing their online catalog I immediately selected the elephant.  My oldest daughter, T, collects elephants and has them all over her room.

Corner-Art is designed to hang on the corner of a doorway.  The elephant also know as Fuzzle was created to hang on the left side of a door way and T’s bedroom door is up against the left corner of a wall.  So we placed her elephant on one of her ‘not so full‘ shelves.  Fuzzle was very thin and light weight making it perfectly easy to just sit him right up there.  No hanging or mounting involved.  T loves him!

Each piece of Corner-Art has a small red heart somewhere on it.  The heart represents 5% of profits donated to charities such as St. George’s Home for Girls and Foreclosure Angel Foundation.  These charities help provide homes for children.
