Advil is my over-the-counter drug of choice. Believe it or not, I’m actually allergic to Tylenol. When I was a teen I used to suffer from migraines and even nowadays I still experience the occasional headache where I quickly turn to Advil. Since I’m already prone to have headaches when cold season rolls around they really get bad. A headache caused from congestion makes me feel so bad I want to crawl in a dark hole. The pressure starts in the center of my face and builds both upwards and down into my neck. I feel like I’m going to explode. You know the feeling?
A recent poll revealed that 79% of Americans are not aware that “inflamed nasal passages” are a potential cause of nasal congestion. Many people are not aware that their sinus pressure is often caused by swelling due to nasal inflammation, not just mucus.
The CDC recently reported in USA Today that the flu season is picking up and as a single mom it’s extremely important that I keep the right over-the-counter medications on hand for times when I can’t run out to the store when I have a sick child at home. Plus as mothers we all know what it’s like to try and care for a sick child when we are suffering from our own sinus congestion. Brutal.
